1. What The King's Lodge is all about:
"Transforming Lives - Impacting Nations..."
We are:
"...an international Christian community called to disciple, equip and release people locally, nationally and internationally... transforming lives through knowing God and impacting nations through serving."
We do this by holding to the following values:
-To be a discipling community committed to live out the foundational values of Youth With A Mission.
-To provide training that promotes growth in Godly character, skills and knowledge, resulting in the application of Biblical truth and servant hearted ministry.
-To demonstrate God's love to the poor and needy through healthcare, community development and health education.
-To seek every opportunity to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus through lifestyle and events.
-To build life-giving relationships with local churches.
-To impact specific nations through strategic partnerships.
-To multiply schools and ministries through pioneering initiatives.
-To connect children and young people with their God-given destiny and potential in partnership with the local church.
2. A Message from the base Leader:
Jesus said, "All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me, therefore Go and Make Disciples of all Nations."
In my years in YWAM I have seen God give us as a mission great favour in peoples eyes and open many doors for us to make disciples. From our community we have seen people going to over 30 different nations in the last year, reaching out to thousands with the Good News!
Many times we felt the authority which Jesus is talking about in Matthew 28, but the main thing is that we have come to know Him deeper in the way that transforms.
As you are thinking of setting some time aside to know God in a deeper way and have an experience of mission, we invite you to come and know Him in the way that will transform you and set you apart from the ordinary, and I hope that you will hear afresh Him saying to you, "I want to bless you and make you a blessing to many."
I hope one day to welcome you here personally. So please get in touch.
Yours in His Kingdom,
Maged Kalta.
3. YWAM Started:
...in 1960 by Loren Cunningham. Youth With A Mission (YWAM) has seen many thousands involved worldwide in fulfilling Christ's command:
"Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15).
Youth With A Mission draws people from a variety of backgrounds to work in a vast spectrum of evangelistic activities.
Young people, families, retired persons, recent high school graduates and those with PhDs are among our ranks. People from more than 130 nations and many denominations are included, from new converts in Christ to church leaders and missionaries with many years of experience.
Each year, over 38,000 people are involved in YWAM's short-term projects. Mobile ministries have gone into every country of the world. Over 11,000 work as permanent staff at 720 centres in 135 nations.
The King's Lodge is an expression of this global ministry - so why not get in touch we'd love to hear from you.
4. The History of the King's Lodge:
Our historic building has been used to influence the lives of young people since its founding in 1886. It has been used in prayer and discipleship, as well as by the army and coal miners.
Today YWAM uses it to mine the truths of the Bible and, through discipleship of young people, to raise an army to bring the Gospel to the Nations.
In 1870 Robert S. Lea designed a school and home when he designed the King's Lodge for use as a boarding school for boys.
It was self-sufficient in that it grew its own food, had its own well and had an emphasis on physical education.
In 1938 the boarding school was closed and was briefly used to house the wild animals from a bankrupt circus - lions included!
WW11 - 1939-45 - The building was used by the Army's Scottish Regiments, the Royal Marines and then the ATS. During the post war years the building was left empty.
From 1950-68 it was used by the National Coal Board as a social club and institute.
In 1968 to 82 the building was brought by Christians: clergy and industrialists who used the building for developing young people through education.
During this time much prayer and intercession for young people went up from this building.
The building was purchased in faith by a small group of YWAMers working out of London in 1985.
Since then we have run at least 3 DTS schools each year - and SBS since 1986. We have hosted major youth camps and run various other schools on topics from worship to primary health care and child and youth ministries.
So why not come and join us in our quest to discover the outworking of God's will for our life as a community and your life as an individual. Get in touch we'd love to hear from you.
