'Time To Say Goodbye'

Time flies and we are on our last week of outreach in Spain! Apart from all the cleaning, packing and debriefing that we had to do, our main focus was the grand opening of the YWAM base here in Caceres. For the most part of the week, our team worked and prayed hard for the big day. Each one of us were designated with tasks; some with cleaning, some with baking, some with painting, some with practical work and even gardening, etc. It was a fun week preparing as we saw our home become the new YWAM base. To the YWAM team there and to our team, the opening on Thursday was more than just a two hour event with guests and food. All the local pastors and guests from the province that showed up saw us as YWAM, who we are is a representation of YWAM and the work that we have come to do in this city.
Praise God for answering our prayers…Thursday turned out as a big success! It was amazing to see how God listened to our prayers and used the time that we have been in Spain to prepare for this time of harvest. What a long journey it has been as we heard the YWAM Spain leader share about all the martyrs and persecution that used to happen in this place. He also shared that it is time for harvest but it is only possible if all the local churches work together in building the ‘fishing net’ together.  Unity needs to be among all the believers in the province in order to make sure the ‘fishes’ will not get lost. Thursday morning was a significant time for everyone when all the key workers in the city gathered in support of one another; we even had the first convert of Caceres among us that morning!  As a gesture to symbolize the alliance and relationship that the YWAM team wants to build with the local churches, our team washed the feet of the three main pastors of the area. It was truly a humbling and powerful experience to express our heart to serve one another.
At the end of the day, I could fully feel and understand the work that our team has been doing for the last 6 weeks. To be honest, our team did lots of praying and interceding throughout our weeks in Spain and sometimes, I would question the power of it. It was hard to see the immediate results of my prayer but I have learned the heart of waiting upon the Lord and believing in the truth that my prayers do make a difference! I have been given authority by God to battle in the spiritual realm; every time we pray, God hears and works. Thus, the opening on Thursday was such an encouragement to us all and to see that our work has not gone in vain. As we prepared to leave, Sue also got a word from God that we have left a spiritual inheritance in this land.  It is like we have been raising a child and now the next team after us will be able to pick up where we left off and teach the child to walk. We have completed the work that God has intended for us to do and it was a great finish to our first part of outreach. Thank you Jesus for His faithfulness!
After the opening of the base on Thursday, we had a delicious Brazilian barbeque prepared for us by the YWAM team and had a wonderful team celebrating our friendships together. Goodbyes were extremely difficult during the weekend and at the airport but we know that God also has something great prepared for us in Belgium and so we move on…
